TV at home. Some years, it is difficult to detect trends in the CES. This year, it was easy because every large company talked about how to watch movies 3-D, TV shows and games in the living room. Blame it on Avatar. Supporters include LG Electronics, Toshiba, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, Sony, Intel and Nvidia. Some companies gave 30 percent of their time in the air press conference for 3-D. Nvidia had the best visual images in 3-D (as far as we have seen) in a racing game. That is because personal computers can use the best hardware dedicated 3-D graphics, which for greater realism. Both Panasonic and Samsung announced a whole ecosystem of products of the glasses ready TVs in 3-D.

Last year, the fashion in 3-D is just beginning. But the picture of income was one billion dollars Avatar charge made all the difference. 3-D experience of the film is truly immersive, not formulas. Another 50 films in 3-D will be released in 2010. Cinemas like them because give people a reason for coming to the theater, because it can not be hacked. But vendors love television because it will give consumers a reason to return to stores, even after they have already bought their high definition screens.

As good as this sounds, we're not sure it will be as big as the HD itself TV. There are still plenty of skeptics out there that will not be in 3-D because it gives them a headache. It is unlikely to pay extra for that. And it could be some time even before the entire ecosystem of 3-D – containing, cameras, televisions, and glasses – are available in many homes. We do not expect all movies to be as good as Avatar, either. Samsung and Sharp may be able to drive the market, some because they have technologies that can convert 2-D programs to 3-D on the fly. But in 3-D is at least out to a good start in 2010 and have a positive effect of the theaters to homes in due time.

Tablets by the dozen. Apple is expected to release a Tablet PC later this month. But everyone wants to show at CES their attractive designs own first so it does not look like copycats. Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer showed three tablets in his speech, including Hewlett-Packard tablets. However, HP was very light on details, perhaps because he wants to wait to see what Apple releases. Most manufacturers of tablets would be prudent to do the same. But the foundations were all what is in the ESC: touch screens, pass checks, content such as eBooks, and chips from such companies as Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom and Marvell. Tablets have been around for a while, but the new must be much more sensitive to touch commands. In all those models in the works of HP is probably the best rival Apple says Richard Doherty, an analyst at Envisioneering Group. That's because HP has decades of experience with touch screens, has a lot of TouchSmart PCs already in the market, and has a large collection of patents touchscreen too. We only wish we saw more of him in action.

The new devices can bring eBooks to the masses. It seems that both device manufacturers and publishers expect the book to be an important part of the contents of tablets. After all, Ballmer of Microsoft was the tablet with HP touch screen by accessing the Amazon Kindle application and browse some pages the best-selling novel Twilight. Meanwhile, Plastic Logic launched its e-book reader, which is one of the most impressive-looking devices in your market (over better be, because the device is also substantially more expensive than Amazon's Kindle).

With these devices, not to mention Apple set to announce your tablet all-but-official / e-book reader at the end of this month, readers of 'embrace of e-books as a supplement or even replace books Physicists can dramatically ramp in the next year. As this happens, the question is whether the e-book readers can compete with the tablets and void. Are the manufacturers of readers in trouble? Will they have to make their devices more compressed like to compete?

Oh, and change, traditional books can not be limited – A company called Graphic.ly, which was also shown on the main stage to Ballmer, is the development of a digital reader and comic book store.

Netbooks are becoming more and more attractive. These machines make sense with their small screens, low prices, and the sole purpose of cruising the web. But the first generation of netbooks that came about 18 months had return rates of up to 40 percent. Do not play games, he choked on a lot of websites, and generally a lousy consumer experience. However, netbooks sold in the tens of millions of people and there were dozens of new models at the show. Now with the new generation of low-power technology, the category no longer is just a bunch of hype. The machines can live up to its billing. Recent processors Intel Atom to give these $ 400 or less machines a lot of push to do tasks that previously required standard laptop. New Toshiba NB 350 Toshiba Mini has a life of 11 hours of battery. New HP Mini 5102 netbook has a touch screen. About 33 million netbooks sold in 2009 and should grow 20 percent in 2010, according to the market researcher DisplaySearch. The category will have competition from smartbooks, which are hybrids of smartphones and netbooks, and perhaps readers eBooks and tablets as well.

Everyone is jumping on the band wagon app store, and they're bringing a lot of devices. After Apple found great success with its iPhone / iPod Touch App Store, other smartphone manufacturers followed suit. Now the pattern is moving to other devices, including netbooks we have mentioned. Intel announced AppUp which netbook makers can customize their own stores to offer customers. Samsung store also has announced that the technology seems to use AppUp. Netbooks seem to be the obvious next step for this model, because they sit between the sophistication of a normal laptop and a smartphone. At the same time, you could see this as a blow to native applications on the network "part of the netbooks, because netbooks are supposed to be all about access to the web, no applications to download. Google has been the opposition more about this, stating that "all applications are applications web netbook in its next operating system, OS Chrome.

The vision is not limited to netbooks, but also includes televisions, computers and other devices as well. Samsung, in particular, to promote cross-device applications capabilities. It is not for TV, telephone, or applications. These applications running on all devices, keep your activity so that their behavior in a device has on others. As companies release new gadgets (see compressed trend above) and old devices get connected web (see the TV trend below), this type of cross-functional device will be more crucial.

User interfaces New abound. Since the iPhone and Nintendo's Wii debuted, the technology industry has been experimenting with new ways of controlling devices. Touchscreens have infiltrated in many products, from Microsoft is expensive Surface boards for mobile phones every day. In the show, debuted with your Motorola phone Backflip a touch pad in the back of a phone, which lets you control the screen without obstructing the view of the same. introduced the iPhone's accelerometer tilt intuitive or functions that add more nuances to the controls. Synaptics, meanwhile, showed what is possible through a combination of contact with other controls in your demos and the fuse and Scrybe. This should be quite useful for future phone and a tablet.

Gesture controls are also taking a step forward. Microsoft said Natal to launch Project, which is camera-based sensors that can detect whole body movements, for the Xbox 360 in Fall 2010. Sony was a rare silence about his rival technology debuting this spring. But companies like GestureTek, Canesten and others showed their own technologies for the control of television gestures or other gear. Remains to be seen how well users will warm to these new measures of control schemes, and that as soon as the software takes advantage of it.

Mobile TV is competitive. Qualcomm has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in business FloTV. The company has acquired the spectrum you need to transmit digital television programs wirelessly to mobile phones (including iPhone) and his own hand FloTV player. But now has the jurisdiction of the Open Mobile Video Coaltion, which has become a standard mobile digital TV. The new devices based on the standard shown at CES, but Battery life and usefulness is still lacking. While Qualcomm has a national network with a wide variety of programming, the group can produce up to Open Mobile when only the local digital television programming in 30 cities. The Open Group Mobile offers the service for free, while Qualcomm charges a subscription. Unlike other trends, this is still in its infancy and was evident in a small number of booths. Like digital television, you can take a long time to evolve. But consumers probably watch TV on their handhelds when the video is crystal clear and have enough content. A test point is Telegent, whose chips provide analog TV programming to cell phones worldwide. Telegent is aligning an initial public offering on the strength of your business internationally. If analog TV could take off, then it probably means there will be demand for mobile digital TV.

Cars smarter. Ford has seen great success with his car voice-controlled timing electronics. In surveys, 32 percent of buyers said Sync is important or critical in their decision to purchase a Ford vehicle. Ford reached its goal of selling one million vehicles with Sync last May. About 81 percent of customers are satisfied with Sync and 77 percent would recommend it. This week, Ford said that developers can create applications that can run on Sync, which will give users 3G or Wi-Fi inside the car, and has redesigned its electronic dashboard to be kind. You can connect iPods, phones, memory cards and other devices to the deck.

Not all cars will be so connected in the future. However, Ford's moves show companies are moving to an annual cycle to drive new technologies in their vehicles, instead of the usual five years. Also is encouraging to know that we are all heading for a big shock chain. Ford says Sync allows the driver to choose a new song with voice commands in 4.9 seconds, while It takes 30 seconds without it. The company is trying to minimize distractions for the driver, even when adding more things for you to do while driving. Ford was just one example of a myriad of other car-related announcements at CES.

TVs that have connection to catch up. Televisions connected to the Internet are proliferating across the model line-ups of consumer electronics. Last year, Yahoo launched its Widget Engine to allow televisions to view websites on a TV using a remote control. Samsung, LG, Toshiba and Sony have sent all TVs with the widget engine. In 2009, sales of TVs connected Internet increased 830 percent from a small base, according to the Consumer Electronics Association. This year is expected to grow by about 129 percent, and Yahoo hopes that its Widget Engine will be in millions of televisions. That gives you access to thousands of televisions web sites, ranging from Netflix to Pandora. Samsung, which said it captured 75 percent of the connected TV market in 2009, is the addition of an application store so that users will have more choices than they can access through connected televisions.

Green tech gadgets realistic. Green technology is moving from the sounds good stage lip service to real products. The major consumer electronics companies to stop their arms race make larger and larger flat screens (although there was a 84-inch television on display at the LG booth.) Instead, he spoke on improving efficiency LED energy thinner TVs and sizes. Hewlett-Packard has shed some toxic chemicals in its computers and has been changed to any packaging degradable. About 20 companies display their products in green technology in the classroom. And most TV manufacturers had large flat screen displays in its stand with performance data.
